RJA #2b: Research Topic
Stemming from the recent debates of the comprehensive health reform, my research will concentrate primarily on socialism and Marxism. I am constantly hearing about the health reform relating to socialism in a very negative way and I would like to learn why. I am also hoping to research and discover if traits of socialism are visible in governments today, more specifically the United States government.
My knowledge of socialism is very minimal. Politics and government has never been a topic I’ve found interest in or even attempted to gain any knowledge in. The knowledge I do have of the topic comes from the opinion of others that I have come across. I would really like to learn about socialism so I can form a valid opinion on the subject.
As I said previously, my knowledge of socialism is close to nothing. I don’t know when it came about or how. I would like to know its originations as well as its impact on society and other governments. My main interest in this subject comes from the debates about the new health reform. I’ve seen many protests with signs stating things about socialism and I would definitely like to know if it really is a part of socialism and if it is, is it such a negative aspect.

Areas of Academic Interest
I find interest in nearly everything, as I believe knowledge is power. However, my primary interests lay with world cultures, human biology, theology, philosophy, English literature, and many areas in science.
